Standing as a Young Saint
We’ve all been there. The post-conference “high” is starting to fade. You’re back to “real” life. It’s not all goosebumps and butterflies. So how can you maintain an atmosphere of revival inside yourself, even in the face of real-life challenges? #ImStanding
I love conferences. Saints and sinners come together under one good Father to be transformed by love and be commissioned to carry revival back to friends, schools and cities. We will never be the same again. But when we come home, it’s to the same environments, atmospheres, and temptations. They haven’t changed, but we have. How are we supposed to live as saints in this challenging world?
Here are 5 things to know about post-conference life.
1. We stand victorious in the finished work of the cross.
While hanging naked on the cross, with blood soaking the ground from his pierced hands, feet, and side, the King of the Earth declared “it is finished!” He closed the gap between God and man. As we’ve received the free gift of salvation, our own efforts can no longer make us right with him. Empowered by grace, totally forgiven, free from guilt and shame, and now the object of his love – we can’t add to the blood of Jesus to make us more worthy of relationship with Him. We have to ignore subtle thoughts from the Enemy in his attempt to make us feel like we’re anything less than a son or daughter of Heaven.
2. God promised he would always be with us.
Hebrews 13:5 says, “For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” God is not a temperamental Father. He’s always in a good mood. You can walk into the familiar environments of life with confidence knowing that God is with you! Say that slowly: God-is-with-me! He doesn’t always deliver you from uncomfortable circumstances; he strengthens you in the midst of them. Give him thanks for being with you, and you will see him at work within you.
3. Worship Jesus and thank him with all of your heart!
A thankful heart is a happy heart! When I was an older teenager, I anointed my room with oil and declared it to be a sanctuary of Heaven. I worshipped until the atmosphere changed. Psalm 22:3 says, “But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.” Heaven is full of praise and worship, and collides with us as we exalt Jesus!
Get alone in your room! Dance, shout, lift your voice, and worship Jesus. As you draw near to him, he will draw near to you. Your emotions will be cleansed and your mind will be transformed in the flow of his love as you behold our amazing God.
“Heaven literally lives inside of you! It’s true. Everywhere you go, you are a physical representation of Heaven sent from God to destroy hell and totally restore mankind.”
4. We have been commissioned to destroy the work of the devil.
Heaven literally lives inside of you! It’s true. Everywhere you go, you are a physical representation of Heaven sent from God to destroy hell and totally restore mankind.
You haven’t been commissioned by a tamed house cat, but by the Lion of the tribe of Judah! When the disciples showed up in Acts 17, people said of them, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”
1 John 3:8 says, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” We are dangerous to the kingdom of darkness! We are not called to live on the defense, but the offense! Forward motion looks like destroying hopelessness and fear with deep love and radical acts of kindness. Find someone who needs to encounter the love of God and give away what you’ve received. Press through fear and into the darkness with the light of Christ that is in you, and begin to release the Kingdom of Heaven to everyone around you!
5. Tell someone what he’s done in your life.
Revelation 19:10 says, “Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Recently at our annual youth camp, a girl’s self-inflicted cutting scars vanished off of her arms. After sharing this testimony that next Sunday night at Bethel, a young woman approached me with her friends. Turns out they had been witnessing first-hand the scars disappearing off of her arms too! I saw her a month latter, and the once deep red scars were completely gone.
When you share a testimony, the same power is released from the first miracle to do the next one.
Start sharing what God has done in your life, and you will see the power of God flow to the lives of others!
